Time To Get Your Hands Dirty!

Hey jammers! graciepopstar91 here! Todays I have an unusual topic, regrowing veggies! Yup! Regrowing veggies! My mom recently discovered how you can regrow tomatoes and lettuce! Oh yes, and after I tell you about regrowing these veggies, I have a surprise! Up first is tomatoes!

What you will need to regrow tomatoes:

  1. A medium sized planter
  2. Organic soil
  3. Three somewhat thick slices of Roma tomatoes
  4. About 4-5 tablespoons of water
Get your planter and fill with soil until theres abut 4 inches of the planter unfilled. Lay your 3 slices of tomato on top of the soil, then, put a thin layer of soil onto of the tomatoes. When your done, sprinkle the water on your plant. In about 1 and 1/2 to 2 weeks, the seeds should sprout!

Im not exactly sure how long it takes for the little sprouts to become full grown tomato plants, I'll keep you all posted when the sprouts become tomato plants!
Moving onto the lettuce!

What you will need to regrow lettuce:

  1. A small planter
  2. 1 and 1/2 to 2 inches of water
  3. 4 inches of the bottom of a stalk of lettuce

In the small planter, add your water, then put in the lettuce, and change out the water daily. Thats all there is to it! Now, my mom made a mistake. We thought you would get a whole stalk of lettuce in a few weeks but it turns out that you should use the lettuce in about 12 days. It will be small so its best to use the lettuce for a sandwich. Ours got brown spots and was bitter. So you cant let it go weeks without using it. Heres what ours looked like.

Lesson learned!
Alright! Now its time for my surprise! Im going to teach you guys how to make soil! (Well compost) Compost is decayed organic food waste such as, organic used coffee grounds, organic banana peels, and even organic animal crackers, and unbleached coffee filters! You use compost for plants. You could even use this for regrowing the tomatoes like I showed you! Heres how you make it.

Compost soil:

  1. Organic food waste
  2. Unbleached coffee filters
  3. Water (if needed)
  4. Plastic baggie
  5. Drinking straw
In your plastic baggie, put in your food waste. Whatever food waste you have, tear or cut it into small bits. Then tear up 2-3 coffee filters, and add it to the food waste. If your compost seems too dry add only a SMALL amount of water. To keep your compost from not smelling, in the corner of your baggie put in a drinking straw and see the bag with the straw sticking out only an inch or so. Now, you don't need to add all of the food waste at once. One day you could put in a banana peel, the next you could put in egg shells, etc! You can basically put any food waste in the compost. But don't add any meat or dairy. Im not sure how long it takes, but the food will somehow turn into dirt! God is so amazing! Some people may ask, can you eat it? The answer is no. It probably would give you a stomach ache!

Have fun with these projects!

Heres todays Bible verse!

Hebrews 11:6

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

Remember, God made YOU!
