Happy Valentine's Day, everyone, well technically tomorrow is Valentine's Day, but whatever! It's fine right?! Anyway, I figured this was a great time to write a post on what love means, what true love is. Valentine's Day is one of the biggest days to be giving chocolate, coming in third place. After, Easter and Christmas, according one website. Yes, Halloween came in 4th place for chocolate. Anyway, that's not what I am here to talk about today. I was actually going to do a history on Valentine's day, but it seems that it has a pretty dark past...so we're not going to be doing that.
So with all that being said, today we are going to be talking about a few verses that talk about love. Hope you all enjoy!
1) John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
It's one that we hear all of the time, but it still holds true. God sent his Son, Jesus Christ to die so that we may have everlasting life. It's a token of true love to give, even if it's your most prized possession.
2) 1 Peter 4:8
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
Charity in the Bible is more than love, it's love in action as my pastor likes to call. It's something you do and show, not something you just say. We can sit there all day and say we love our family members, or even the people around us, but it's takes an extra step to show that love. That's exactly what Jesus Christ did. He showed his love by taking the pain on the cross.
3) 1 John 4:17-19
17) Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 18) There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because
fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19) We love him, because he first loved us.
I remember memorizing these verses a few years ago when I was struggling with fear. Well since we have are born again, trusting Jesus Christ we are made perfect in His love. We love Him, because He first showed us how to love. Without Christ showing us how to love, we wouldn't love properly. We wouldn't love those who have done us wrong.
4) 1 Corinthians 13:13
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
In the Christian life we need faith, hope, and charity, but as we see that charity, or love in action is the greatest of these things. When you think about the world has faith in themselves and hope in others, but they tend to hate and despise the people that have done them wrong in one or another. It's usually only when that people meets Christ is when they can truly love and forgive that person. However, even Christian can have problems with not forgiving those people sometimes. However, with Christ we can!
5) John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Here, Jesus was talking of himself. I find it interesting that He is says "friends." I can tell you it's been almost 6 years since I got saved, (March 31st, 2013) I am to say, that's He's been my friend since then. It's great to know that Jesus is my friend, when no one else seems to want me.

Today will never come again. Be a blessing. Be a friend. Encourage someone. Take time to care. Let your word heal, and not wound. - Unknown
Today's Bible Verse:
As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. - Psalms 18:30 (KJV)
Loved the intro, and the verses!

Haha, the intro, the intro. It's a big joke among some AJ friends, because the other day I was dancing with a mop and my sister was talking to them, telling them what I was doing. I thought it would be a perfect intro.
DeleteThe verses were great! I loved them...
Remember, the best friend you have is Jesus Christ.
Nice quotes:)
