Bibliophile Sweater Tag -- Karalee Edition!

Hellooooo, jammers! I can't figure out how to type in lowercase! toggling my caps lock isn't doing anything! Let's get into the bibliophile sweater tag!

FUZZY SWEATER (A BOOK THAT IS THE EPITOME OF COMFORT)

I can open this book and instantly be transported to 221B Baker Street, rain beating against the windows... a fire crackling in the hearth... Holmes playing his violin... it feels so real.

I can almost fall asleep there....

Then of course the book falls over on top of me, and I wake up. *silly shrug* 😜

STRIPED SWEATER (BOOK WHICH YOU DEVOURED EVERY LINE OF)

I used to LOVE this book when I was younger! I read it lots and lots, even though I had a tall bookshelf of books all to myself in my room. I can't remember all of it now, but I remember how the crew landed on the Sandwich Islands (no, they did not have sandwiches) and interacted with the natives there. I think it was the first time I had ever heard of breadfruit -- if not heard of, it was at least the first time I ever really understood what it was like.

I remember how the chief of the island presented the captain with two beautiful, brightly colored feather-covered robes as a present for King George (apparently the crew was expected, those musta taken a long time to make), and how the natives of the island were curious to see what a woman from Europe looked like. Not having a woman on board, the sailors came up with an interesting solution to this... they built a fake woman with a mannequin and a sheet.

(I'm pretty sure the natives were all like "???" but were too polite to say anything. I would have been verrrrrrry interested to hear the conversation in the village that night.)

The actual mutiny part came later... but going any farther than that would be spoilers. 😉

UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER (BOOK WITH A WEIRD COVER)

I can't think of any, and it's getting quite late. I have to go up to bed soon -- may I skip this one please? *folds hands, pleading look*

CASHMERE SWEATER (MOST EXPENSIVE BOOK YOU'VE BOUGHT)

I... uhhhhhhhh... I think that'd be the Star Trek Cookbook off of eBay... maybe. Lemme see if I can find a picture.

Yeah, there it is... hi Neelix! 😊 *waves at the character on the cover*

HOODIE (FAVORITE CLASSIC BOOK)

Besides the Sherlock Holmes books, I think my favorite classic would have to be this.

CARDIGAN (BOOK THAT YOU BOUGHT ON IMPULSE)

Saw this at Value Village. Thought it looked interesting. *shrug*

(I haven't actually READ it yet... I did buy it on impulse, though.)

TURTLENECK SWEATER (BOOK FROM YOUR CHILDHOOD)

Mushy sentiments and jackrabbits, pretty much. Still, it's kinda sweet. 😏

Y'know, I can't tell if that's the little rabbit's mama, or daddy, or big brother... I think the book just calls him Big Rabbit (and the other one's Little Rabbit), but I always saw him as a big brother for some reason.

HOMEMADE KNITTED SWEATER (BOOK THAT IS INDIE-PUBLISHED)

N/A

V-NECK SWEATER (BOOK THAT DID NOT MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS)

The book as a whole was actually great! Full of suspense and terrorrrrrrrr! But the beginning was literally a nightmare scene -- and I almost fell asleep! Well, not really... but I stopped reading several times during the first few pages because the buildup to anything happening was just so SLOW! Nothing functioned as a "hook" to grab my attention right away, and that's something I didn't think was very important... until The Nightmare of Black Island.

ARGYLE SWEATER (BOOK WITH A UNIQUE FORMAT)

This. Guy. Drives. Me. NUTS!! *runs fingers through hair* He is a twisted GENIUS, this series seems to tell the backstory and the plot and the foreshadowing all at once! The pacing is convoluted and impossible and yet you are somehow led along in a way that you can follow the story and you just can't look away from it all. O~O How he even DOES that is more of a mystery than the plot -- which is saying a lot!

My attitude towards Mr. Lemony Snicket is one of intense irritation (you never DO write a happy ending, do you, sir?) coupled with one of even more intense admiration. Aside from, y'know, the "old masters", he's the first author I've read who I truly feel compelled to call a master of his craft.

So in closing, Lemony Snicket drives me BANANAS!! 😡

*dreamy sigh* I wanna be just like him someday....

POLKA DOT SWEATER (A BOOK WITH WELL-ROUNDED CHARACTERS)

Oh NOOOOOO LIGHTS OUT TIME I GOTTA GOGOTTAGOGOTTAGO SEE YOU AROUND JAMAAAAAAASIANS

Hurriedly yours,

  1. Omg, back when I watched Disney Jr (wayyy back), that a show on it. I never knew it was a book, welp, that's enough of my awkward self. I believe it's the son and the daddy rabbit.

    1. It's a TV show?? Made out of what's basically the book of my childhood? *scrunches up face* I don't know how I feel about that....

Oooh, yes, there's lots! :D I can't wait to read them all! So far I've only found the one at our local library.

    2. The TV show is really cringey. I like the book way better.
I might one day pick up a Doctor Who book and read it. Oh my gosh, my local library has 169 Doctor Who books, including the cookbook.
